Telepathically intercepted transmission from Subject EX00023-90690ACE aka “Ace.” -- T.Q. How long have I been walking. This misty empty morning street echoes hollowly with the clank of my shin hitting my bike pedal ow almost tripping me, wish I could ride then this wouldn’t happen but no I’m no way sober enough to stay upright and if I fall it’ll be worse than a barked shin. Where is everybody? Faces swirl in the mist but they’re not real I hope. I don’t want to think about that creep at the party. I don’t want to think about that creep at the party. Glad I got out of there I wonder what came of odd old One-Eye and Mrs. One-Eye confronting him, maybe nothing I bet. No one ever has anyone’s back. Wish I could have just hexed that old creep away from me, away from everyone, away from the whole world. But I’m nowhere near there in terms of witchery, leastways not yet. I listen to the echoes of my footsteps in the narrow empty street. Faces swirl in the mist. They look real. Note: Recorded with Aetheric Monitor of my own design, during subject’s transition to Tal Sharnis. Method of transit unknown; seems like an Accidental. Perception of “faces in the mist” may imply Second Sight or comparable ability, magical or psychical; will maintain surveillance of subject. –T.Q.
Okay, so Chapter 3 of Insurgent Otherworld is really, really short. Shortest chapter in the whole story.
Longer one coming next week.
At this early stage of the story, we’re just getting our first glimpses of the cast of characters. Setting up the chessboard…
In case you were wondering, by the way, Andrew wrote the odd-numbered chapters of Insurgent Otherworld and I wrote the even-numbered ones.
I love Andrew’s term “Aetheric Monitor,” though I think it would be even cooler if instead of a surveillance device that scans the Aetheric Plane and reads thoughts from the minds of people in altered states of consciousness, it was a big Aetheric-Plane-dwelling monitor lizard. But I’m just generally biased in favor of big lizards.
See you next Wednesday,
